We are delighted to reflect on and compile this yearbook for you all to read. The yearbook has briefly enlisted the ongoing programs at Sirumalai Health Center, and we have chosen a few of the many impact narrativesthat Sirumalai has created on itstarget community.
The Naidupuram center plays a crucial role in providing healthcare services to a diverse population, ranging from the peri-urban residents of Kodaikanal Town to the rural inhabitants of Vilpatti Panchayat, including the tribal communities in Kombai and Perangadu.
Vilpatti Panchayat, being one of the largest in Tamil Nadu with a population of 13,437 as per the 2011 census, underscores the significance of healthcare facilities in this region.Despite being a large Panchayat this area has limited medical infrastructure, with only government Nurse-led Subcenters in Attuvampatty, Mattupatty, and Kovilpatty.
Sirumalai Health Center in Naidupuram is strategically positioned to address this challenge of this region. The center provides high quality primary care services to the periurban as well as village population.
With an average footfall of 1000 people per month, the center not only offers regular outpatient department (OPD) services but also provides specialized care through clinics dedicated to respiratory health, eye care, diabetes management, pain management, and women’s health. This comprehensive approach ensures that the diverse healthcare needs of the community are addressed effectively.
This rural clinic of SITHARA occupies a strategic location at the junction of four major roads in Kodaikanal, specifically at the Perumalmalai-Palani Pirivu junction. This junction serves as a pivotal point for three distinct panchayats: Adukkam, Vadakaunji, and Vilpatty. The health center plays a crucial role in serving the healthcare needs of the surrounding area, encompassing 18 villages and 5 tribal hamlets around Perumalmalai. It’s focus extends beyond mere medical treatment to include preventive, promotive, and rehabilitative services, alongside acute care.
Despite being relatively new, this center has already begun to make a significant impact, with a current monthly footfall of 400 individuals. Like the Naidupuram center, it is led by Family Physician and is designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services under one roof, tailored to meet the unique needs of the local communities it serves. The centers of SITHARA are committed to deliver holistic care that addresses both immediate medical concerns and long-term health and wellness.
